Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS) recognized that the complex regulations governing the alcohol supply chain introduced unique challenges for wine makers. One of the biggest hurdles was the amount of time winemakers spent managing product data and photography for distributors. SGWS wanted to differentiate itself from other distributors by providing tools to streamline these processes and enable winemakers to focus on what they do best – making great wine.
Solution
Our team turned to emerging technologies to build an iOS application that leveraged machine vision and AI. Our team recognized that the key to successful adoption would be creating a simple, user-friendly experience that winemakers could easily integrate into their daily routines.
The resulting app guides suppliers through the process of capturing product images with the assistance of our AI algorithm, which optimizes settings for the perfect picture, including lighting, pixel counts, background, and product distance. After taking the photo, the AI engine pre-populates the product catalog, cropping the bottle and replacing the background with high-quality stock photography, and accounting for product attributes like bottle and top type.
The app has the potential to be a game-changer for SGWS and its winemaker partners by significantly reducing the amount of time winemakers spend on administrative tasks and fast-tracking new products to market.
By solving a problem for winemakers, SGWS has deepened its partnerships with them and become more indispensable to their business.
